We’re excited to officially announce the release of Motown EQs v2, a major update to what was previously known as the Motown Retro Bundle. This new version is not only more powerful and sonically accurate than ever before — it’s also now included as part of the updated Retro EQs Bundle v2.
What’s New in Motown EQs v2?
Motown EQs v2 is a faithful software emulation of the ultra-rare, custom-built equalizers used at Motown’s Hitsville U.S.A. studios in Detroit during the golden age of soul, funk, and R&B. These units were never commercially released and were engineered in-house specifically for Motown’s production needs.
This updated version introduces a completely rewritten DSP engine for greater sonic precision and analog realism, along with two dedicated modules:
- Music Tone EQ – Ideal for vocals, instruments, and full mixes, bringing punch, warmth, and clarity with fixed-band musical EQ curves.
- Film Tone EQ – Tailored for voiceover and post-production work, offering smooth, focused shaping for spoken dialogue.
Additional features include:
- Accurate analog circuit modeling with tube-style harmonic saturation
- Oversampling for higher resolution audio processing
- Resizable user interface with two skin options
- Support for VST3, AU, and AAX
- Native support for Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3) and compatibility with macOS 10.13+ and Windows 10/11 (64-bit only)
What’s New in Retro EQs Bundle v2?
The Retro EQs Bundle v2 now includes:
- Motown EQs v2 – Modeled after the custom-built EQs used at Motown’s Hitsville studios, featuring Music Tone and Film Tone modules for musical and post-production use.
- Pulse-Tec EQs v2 – Modeled after the legendary Pultec EQP-1A and MEQ-5, known for silky highs, punchy lows, and musical midrange shaping.
- All-Tec EQs v2 – Based on the vintage Altec 9063B passive EQ, offering broad, smooth tone shaping for mixes and busses.
All three plugins now feature:
- A fully rewritten DSP engine for enhanced tone and responsiveness
- Tube-style analog saturation modeling
- Modern oversampling options
- Resizable GUIs with two skin options
- Support for VST3, AU, AAX
- Native compatibility with Apple Silicon and full support for Windows 10/11
